any raw garlic eaters in da house?
pick a clove from the bunch, peel it, and crunch
with or without a chaser to balance the burn
were talking the clove and you and nothing in between...
can you take the heat?

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Thu, July 28, 2005 - 5:58 PMAll the time! I remember reading that uncooked garlic was good for lowering cholesterol or something like that, and not thinking that the health food stores would carry garlic caps, I ate raw garlic for a while. Even after I discovered it in the stores, I ate it raw because it was sooooo good! -

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Fri, July 29, 2005 - 11:56 PMI like garlic raw. Sometimes I crave it. When I have a cold, I eat a couple of garlic cloves when the symptons set it.
I don't find it to be too "hot."

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Wed, August 3, 2005 - 11:37 PMbasically on a daily basis. peal the clove and chase it with sips of wine. not to mention mixing it with blueberries after a sip of wine. unfortunately cannot do it without a chaser, be it wine, water, tea. -

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Thu, August 4, 2005 - 2:58 PMgarlic cloves are yummy raw and yes the pickled ones with jalapeno's are quite good too. i was doing a cleanse recently and had to make concoction of 7 garlic cloves, lemon juice, ginger root and olive oil, then you blend it all up in the blender . . . oh my . . . nice burps. -

Thu, August 4, 2005 - 3:26 PMGarlic Rules! Medical studies have shown that garlic can lower cholesterol, prevent dangerous blood clots, reduce blood pressure, prevent cancer, and protect against bacterial and fungal infections.

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 10:34 AMI'm not a true lover, clearly. The last time I took raw garlic to strengthen my resistance, I swallowed the cloves whole. I don't remember the burps. -

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 3:48 PMI guess it's an alliums-and-peanut butter thing. I love raw onion with peanut butter, and I always put a lot of cooked garlic in my Thai-style peanut sauce.
I can totally see this combination, though I could take or leave the ranch dressing. -

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Wed, August 24, 2005 - 9:09 AMI actually prefer eating raw rather than roasting it... I find the texture is difficult for me if it is roasted.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm garlic
Everytime I go home I stop off at Johnny Garlics to get food for the trip home (I bet every one on the plane loves me!); recently when I went home I stoped by JG and found that ALL but one have closed down :( :(. I am distraught and sad... I guess the owners opened a new place in the Sacramento area called Tex Wasabi's

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Thu, December 22, 2005 - 9:38 PMOn a trip to Mexico several years ago, my travelling companions suggested multiple garlic oil caps every day would help lower the probablility of getting traveller's trots. I took the biggest ones I could find, three at a time, three times a day. Took a few risks with ice and lettuce, and sailed through without a problem.
I don't think the mosquitos liked me much either...

Tue, October 25, 2005 - 4:33 AMdoes garlic help your immune system at all?
If so I'm going to go eat a clove right now. I'm sick as a dog. -

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Tue, October 25, 2005 - 7:08 AMIt's one of the many things that's rumored to help. If it's a cold or flu, I go for black elderberry extract. Tastes awful, but not as bad as grapefruit seed extract. It really does seem to make the cold/flu go away much more quickly.
No bad feelings towards garlic meant at all, of course. :-)

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Thu, December 22, 2005 - 9:40 PMWell, it's raw, but not by itself....
As I'm typing this, I'm eating three pieces of toasted sourdough. I have rubbed a whole raw medium sized clove into each one, and then I dribbled some EVO on each. Mmmm... there's a burn, but it's sssoooooooooooooo good.

Re: do you do it in the raw?
Fri, December 23, 2005 - 10:08 PMI love to eat a clove or two raw! Makes me feel healthy when I'm sick...sometimes I will chase it with toast, but it's not that hot for me- raw is the best! (I also voluntarily eat lemons raw too, so maybe my tastebuds are confused!) -
