I've eaten as much as 8 cloves of garlic at a time with no real ill effects except a slight stomach irritation, and my health is totally suckass. It's as mild as mother's milk.
I love the smell, the taste, and my idea of heaven is chopped, fresh garlic mixed with cream cheese on crackers. I live on a farm so I get all of the organic garlic I could possibly eat..hundreds of cloves..
