YUM!

Garlic goes on everything. I mean EVERYTHING!! Thanks for creating a tribe about my fave thing. If I didn't have a garlic press I would curl up in a little ball and die.

I've never owned a garlic press. My friends that have them complain that they're hard to clean. I either cut it up real small or smash it with the side of a large blade.

What makes your press so special? Do my friends have the wrong kind?

I have a really nice one that I believe I bought at a Revereware outlet years ago (at least 5). Easy to use and VERY easy to clean! It's a heavy-duty clear acrylic tube, with a screw post that pushes the cloves through a detachable clear acrylic base. Nice large holes, I like it coarse. Tonight I'll check and see if there's any info on it that would make it findable.

My press is from Ikea - inexprensive and heavy duty. There are a lot of crappy presses out on the markety that break or bend heavy use. For example, I like to use my press for squeezing out ginger juice to add to my stir fry sauce. Of course I also add mucho garlic!

I like to use mine also to squeeze out onion juice for certian recipes that if I use the whole onion in it would burn. But definatly if it can't squeeze some ginger without bending or breaking it's not good quality! I went through 5 different ones before I found a good one!!

I'm with you there. I'd rather chop it finely than try to use a press. Every press I've seen actually WASTES garlic.

Hi Mandy. My name is Kerri and I'm a garliholic. I'm glad you found your way to this humble and stinking tribe!

My garlic press is just a simple, old, 2-piece metal affair that I probably picked up at the grocery store. After scraping excess garlic chad (ha ha! garlic chad!) off of it when I'm finished pressing, I run it under water and run it through the dishwasher. It seems pretty low-maintanence to me.

I always break the handles on mine...last one seemed pretty sturdy...when doing ginger with it....

theyre not that hard to clean.

Mandy: Yes indeed, garlic on EVERYTHING! That way when a garlic lover kisses another in the garlic conspiracy, no one gets offended either...
