Re: Deal Breaker!
Mon, March 14, 2005 - 1:02 PMActually. . . when I first started cooking for my boyfriend, I didn't much care for garlic either. He is one of those whole bulb in recipes kinda person. :)
Since then, I have been known to triple or more the amount of garlic I put in things. Sometimes garlic is one of life's hidden treasures that must be awoken in a person.
Somestimes now he even says stuff is too garlicky.
So you have to weigh it out. . . Can she/he be CONVERTED?
~smile~

Mon, April 4, 2005 - 1:13 AMJust tell him you love to kiss his/her garlic laden lips. That's the sexiest thing in the world for me. I'm so with you though, if they don't love garlic, that's the end of the story..... -

Re: Deal Breaker!
Thu, June 9, 2005 - 5:03 PMyes, there are a few wise young souls capable of conversion...
but personally i have found it to be a harbinger of more serious problems on the horizon... the whole thing- spicy/crunchy/garlickylicky types= explorative/creative/fun in bed types more often than not...
and unfortunately the converse has usually held true. -

Re: Deal Breaker!
Fri, June 10, 2005 - 8:33 AMIt also talks, i find, of thier willingness to try new things, to explore thier world and take risks.
Most of us in the 30 something generation, and surly those older did not grow up on garlic unless we had italian parents. We had "mac & cheese" we had "tuna noodle caserole".
"don't like garlic" is likly "never really tried it" and "don't really want to try it."
cause how can you not like at least a *bit* of garlic. :-) -

Fri, June 10, 2005 - 10:54 AMI'm thirty-something, and I grew up loving garlic! It wasn't until later that I developed my love of hot sauces, but I knew garlic pretty much from the beginning. -

Re: Deal Breaker!
Fri, June 10, 2005 - 11:14 AMNope. She was pouring her affections all over me. I was eating lots of garlic in those days. Too bad she was so freaking mental... -

Re: Deal Breaker!
Fri, June 10, 2005 - 1:52 PMHum... maybe it's a mid west thing.
all we had for spices were "salt" and, you know "salt."
ok, once in a blue moon, pepper.
and all of my friend's mothers (yes, always mothers) cooked these funky caseroles. little taste, no texture, and it was like meat roulette.
"tuna noodle caserloe with canned peas"
"chicken noodle caserole with canned peas"
"chiken noodle caserole with canned brocollie"
"hamburger noodle caserole with peas"

Re: Deal Breaker!
Wed, June 22, 2005 - 4:50 PMI grew up in Mississippi... a little spice crept up from New Orleans. I was lucky enough to grow up in one of those families. :)

This is *so* true in my experience. A woman I know uses a fondness for spicy foods as a criteria for new lovers. She figures if they aren't interested in culinary adventurism, they are probably going to be interested in other kinds of novelty. :)

Tue, June 14, 2005 - 1:08 AMYeah if they don't like garlic they are definitely not fit for cohabitation, but we might still hang out at restaurants and stuff ;)
